  • @ocean3da This should only be celebrated by the likes of you. The people who dont care that six counties are under British rule are Free State traitors. Ireland still has no Independence thanks to British lackeys like you.

  • @quinnsh I merely pointed out that we don't want just unity, we want unity done correctly. We would be re-uniting the body politic within a system that includes a democratically elected Head of State. We could have had a United Ireland back in 1914 or 1920 but it's pointless if it is merely symbolic. As such, I don't accept your point that declaring the Republic has done anything to prevent Irish unity.

  • @OasisDublin what do you mean? i wrote about ireland leaving the commonwealth and how it prevented irish unity. you then randomly came up with some statemet of principle that was irelevant to my point and when i highlighted this you patronised me.

  • @quinnsh The UK does not have a democratically elected Head of State. Elementary my dear Watson.

  • @OasisDublin and your point is, caller?

  • Prime minister Costello was unreasonable about this one hand, and on another realistic.

What's missing today is the fact that nobody celebrates April 1949. There should be. Not everyone in Irelan cares about the six counties.

Ireland was only ever united by independence in 1949, the funny side to it all, it was John Costello who wasn't a popular PM delievered the countrie's independence and not Eamon.

  • @quinnsh A United Ireland under a democratically elected Head of State. That's the aim

  • so what this vid is saying, that fianna gael supported the british commonwelth? how many in this republic support fianna gael? just wondering, how many still support the british. . . . . and all what they did for our country and to our people.

  • If it wasn't then, it would of happened a decade or two later.

  • Ireland's leaving the Commonwealth probably did more to prevent Irish unity than we acknowledge today.
