I decided to do a series of videos with the material that I don't have the scores. I have been waiting patiently one day to find them. But it seems that these cantatas /arias that I want to upload are not interesting enough for score publishers that I cannot even find an expensive copy of them.. They just won't publish these scores.. Forget the scores most of the time I cannot even get the lyrics/translations. Oh well... Here I go, doing one-slide silly videos with great music.

Unfortunately, this is one of those pieces I cannot find any info on, no matter what I do.. All I know is it was composed by one of my favorite composers Caldara. THe other thing that I kind of realized myself is that Handel used the same text (at least part of it) in his Cantata "Dolc'e pur d'amor l'affanno", which is also the 2nd movement of this Caldara cantata. I tried to at least get the lyrics but cannot even find that much. I am not gonna try and guess with my non-existent Italian, so again I appeal to those who speak/know Italian to provide the lyrics. If possible, I would appreciate the translation as well.. Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks to MehdiCaps, I can post the lyrics and the translation for the 2nd mvt. aria "Dolc'e pur d'amor l'affanno":

Original:

Dolc'è pur d'amor l'affanno
se, compagno del tormento,
il contento viene ancor.
Se le pene insieme vanno
con la speme e con l'affetto,
il diletto è poi maggior.

Translation:

The anxiety of love is sweet
if, paired with torment,
pleasure is also there.
If pain comes together
with hope and affection,
the joy is greater.

This cantata is pure delight! And Lesne is at his best. I've been hunting for the text for some loong time. You can tell by the video description and the old comments by me and MehdiCaps on this video. Do you have the complete text for this cantata? I'd be indebted to you if you could post it here or send it via YT message.

Yes, it does. A Paolo Rolli text that Handel also set, apparently. And the only part I could find after long searches, the rest is different. That's why the first aria is the only part I posted on the description with the text and translation.
