Hundreds of abandoned heavy dump-trucks, Caterpillar , Komatsu - all the most expensive heavy trucks you can name stay totally without care, rusting on the wind rain and snow. Who can let himself to treat the hardware this way? The answer is "ALROSA". This strange Russian name stands for the one and only diamond mining company in Russia, making 97% gross yield of Russian diamonds, which makes a big part of the world's diamond trade pie.
Sure they can let themselves doing such crazy things as dumping tens and hundreds big trucks and simply ordering new ones after the specified period of use expires. That's New Russian business.

  • a history of leaving equipment behind..

  • @parkerdonald1

    Yep !

    that's sucks.

  • In Australia, it's a more common practice to send them out to auction when a mining company decides they don't want to do anything with them. local CAT dealers even do some reconditioning on them, so they can sell them used. The engines and generators in the Komatsus could be turned into power generating plants, the CATs could be either sold or stripped for parts. They're out of their minds to do this!

  • @Mechknight73

    Yep

But I think they prefer to buy new ones more efficient.

the lack of customers/competitors with enough money to buy those in this country is maybe one reason why they are rotting there too.

It's Russia and Alrosa is the big one in this activity.

  • good sense on paper working cost of maintenance and depreciation

  • This is sad. Perhaps another good example of failed socialism run amuck. It aint' mine so who really gives a dam to actually fix it and get some more use from this equipment. Now our government wants to run health care!

    animals first !

but that's true that's sad to see those babies slowly dying.

  • Also, I like how the end of the URL ends with "Hug" I think these trucks need one of those.

  • Honestly, seeing videos like these makes me sadder than those animal cruelty ones...
