the way his contract was written was he got payed little to nothing while playing...he was already loaded and didnt nead it up front. the mets pay him about 1.1 mil a year from 2011 to 2035, securing the rest of his life up pretty nicely...smart man

If they're speaking the truth about the Mets paying Bonilla until 2035, wow that's bad management. They'll likely being doing the same for Santana - a shell of the pitcher he was when he went to the Mets.
