Scenario based learning allows a high learner involvement.
In a scenario, learning material is embedded in an interactive learning environment, like in this example, the procedure of ultrasound scanning is being embedded in a realistic scenario to train medical staff.
This environment is an authentic model of the real circumstances where the learner
needs the knowledge to master situations and tasks.
Depending on decisions the learner makes, the scenario unfolds. (Does the learner forget to check the identity of the patient it may turn out that it's the wrong patient. Does the learner forget to talk to the patient during the procedure she might get worried etc.)
Scenario based learning allows to create realistic effects as a consequence of decisions made by the learner.
By this, the learner can more easily connect and transfer abstract knowledge and adapt patterns of behaviour and thus develop skills and competencies.
The learning material was created with the AVALLAIN Author withoutinvolving programming or scripting.
