well i don't like his music style at all and i would die in one of his parties . but he has some good playing and hacking (finding a way to screwing things to match personal liking) skills ! also, building those sets requires some bad ass devotion . and btw . DJS are for parties . they don't (should not, lol) release records . producers do release records...whatever.
jaja jealou s Rein Mein/ go to guitar center whenever there are dj's people forget about the guitaR PLAyers . Im a guitar player. I can play bossa with my eyes closed but I believe people like Q bert and moldover push music forewards
i would rather be deaf than hear that stuff. Too bad, that the amount of work he put into this results in mangled, incoherent, headache - inducing garbage.
Obviously from some of the comments, you are not a DJ. This is incredible to DJ's as it frees up some mundane tasks. For example, instead of a DJ having to constantly EQ the bass or mids in transition songs, Matt has a compressor that automatically compresses the bass or mids in the playing song and replaces it with the bass and mids of th incoming song. Read up on some of his techniques before critcizing what you don't understand.
Djs are vampires of music, they only consumate, not innovate or create, thats why the business is down, its the same loop over and over....boring, peace
yeah and the thing that pains me is that he doesn't even write his own music. it's all mash ups, but they come out sounding incoherent and retarded. just because he fucked up his midi controller people think he's created an art.
That's the problem. I do this shit EVERY DAY. I do it PROFESSIONALLY. I've been modding equipment for a long time AND making music. This guy is trying to make something seem new, that's been done by TONS of artists before him.
Unless you understand the limitations that he is surpassing, you cant begin to appreciate what he has done. And beyond his talent, what he has done for the culture of electronic music is worth noting. Not many innovators are as forth coming with their tricks of the trade but moldover just gives it all away.
eh, this music is Squarepusher... what the hell?!

Agreed, this is pretty stupid and not revolutionary at all. Rearranging the keys just sort of seems like he dumbed down the keyboard for himself.
