  • I had this channel on my satellite dish back in the early 90's. I loved the Movie Loft. Especially since the movies WERE unedited. Dana Hersey was the man. Is that dude still around?

  • I have heard Hersey on radio doing some IDs or liners, I think on WRKO. I think he might still be around on radio somewhere, but haven't seen him on TV in a long time.

  • Duel was a great film, Dennis Weaver(rip) "you miserable meathead..."

I remember when Dana Hersey would announce "Regularly scheduled programming will not be seen so that we my bring you....Boston Bruins hockey."

  • It's too bad this persons account is closed. I wanted to add that the "you miserable meathead..." line is one I remembered too and thought was pretty funny..

  • One of the great movies of all time. A Steven Spielberg classic. "Duel" Of course Dana Hersey's smooth voice was always great on TV 38. "The Movie Loft" Another nice clip! JimMastersTV

  • Thanks Jim. 'Duel' is 2nd on my list of greatest movies. And TV-38 is where I originally saw it.

    I agree- classic. Dana, too.

  • You have GOT to be kidding me. Frank Avruch was the ABSOLUTE BEST. He embodies how great Boston TV was for a long time. From Bozo to his hosting and voiceover work for both Channel 5s, he could do no wrong, the "Man About Town". Granted, Bob Gamere turned out to be a child-molesting douche bag, who truly was better suited at hosting CFC than anchoring sports, but really..I don't know what else to say. I just don't understand how someone could not like that pre-cable era...I seriously don't.

  • @VaultMasterDBT 58. Yes, I do. Hey man, I went to Worcester Academy. I remember Channel 27. The ABSOLUTE worst thing was Frank Avruch. Candlepins For Cash. Yikes.

  • What's the matter? You didn't like Boomtown, Rex Trailer, Major Mudd, weekday afternoon movies on Channel 7, the hundreds of original local programs that WCVB cranked out in the '70s, cartoons and reruns on 56, Creature Double Feature, and all of the movies, reruns and sports carried by 38? Are you even old enough to remember Boston TV before cable?

  • I remember watching the Movie Loft alone when I was a kid and it would be some movie that scared the shit out of me, and then a commercial would come up with that Movie Loft theme, all bright and happy... ah not so bad :)

  • yea growin up we had ch.38 here in Ct. that was one great station! movie loft was awesome flicks unedited, bruins/celtics games, deputy dawg,3 stooges on sunday mornings. cant understand why its no longer?

  • @MSTS1 Yeah he still does radio. The Movie Loft made me the movie nerd I am today!

  • @yaknbo the movie loft was great...an so was willie whistle!

  • I used to really enjoy Hersey's presentations in the latter UHF days.

  • Just think, for a select few of you out there this is what was on in the background while your mom and pop we're gettin' busy making you!

  • OMG!!! Talk about nostalgia...Dana Hersey and his sweaters, always after Bruins home games.
