Scientists working with NASA's Dawn spacecraft have created a new video showing the giant asteroid Vesta as the spacecraft approaches this unexplored world in the main asteroid belt. The images show a dark feature near Vesta's equator moving from left to right across the field of view as Vesta rotates. It is roughly 60 miles (100 kilometers) in diameter. Vesta's jagged, irregular shape is also seen, hinting at the enormous crater known to exist at Vesta's south pole. The video loops 20 images obtained by Dawn for navigation purposes on June 1, 2011.

  • At least try make it look more realistic, loose money

  • maya? 2d studio? what program is this with After effects? cuz I can tell it's not real.

  • it looks good.. hope it will not approach to us....

  • Hopefully they send something to cerces soon maybe with a handy drill.

  • @AizenSamaKingX Crazy is bad for you. So is believing is BS planets and conspiracy theories.

The asteroid Vesta is the second largest and massive object in the asteroid belt........nothing more...but nothing less.

  • What a stupid loop

  • Those who are imbecilic naysayers should comprehend that this "dwarf planet" "Ceres" is planet Nibiru. It's about time you government-believers wake up and smell the violet roses. This asteroid Vesta is probably asteroid 2005 yu55. Please do some research. Also, when you see a second sun in the sky, another planet, it is NOT a supernova called betelgeuse. That is INASA (Inner NASA) with mores lies. Seriously, humans. Wake up. Research Nibiru, Elenin, Levy, Honda, and asteroid 2005 yu55.

  • Dawn should be arriving at vesta in about a day now.

  • @Diresilver same!

  • Does anyone think it strange that there are only 4 astronauts on this mission and one is a marine?
