i killed 2 deer in my life, both with a bow, one at 7 yards and the other at 30 yards. You should take up bowhuntin some time if you really like to hunt, i get to hunt from october 1st thru january 4th i think, only get 2 weeks of gun season. I shot a nice doe at 30 yards this year and she only went 40 yards,the deer my dad shot with a 44 mag went about 50 yards, so bow is just as good if not better than a gun, dont think it isnt effective you just need about 50 lbs draw wt., i shoot 58 lbs

Even though my first deer was a doe i couldn't have been happier, and i know you felt the same when you got this one.  I am 28 now 15 years after my first deer i still use a 30-30.
