A walkthrough/Let's Play of .flow, the creepier fangame of Yume Nikki. I decided to upload these because it's hard to find actual walkthroughs on getting effects and to help spread the noise about this great but oft ignored fangame. (as compared to yume 2kki)

Effects Obtained: Broom
Effects Found: 1/19

Controls: Arrow Keys to move
Space/Z/Enter to Interact
Shift to use an effect's Ability.
Esc to open and close the menu.

How to Install and Play (for Windows 7 and perhaps Vista):

1. Go to Control Panel - Clock, Language and Region - Region and Language - Administrative - Change System Locale
Set your system locale to Japan. THIS WILL NOT CHANGE YOUR LANGUAGE TO JAPANESE, so don't worry about that.

3. You will need to download AppLocale.
Go here http://alcahest.perso.sfr.fr/perso/apploc/applocale.html and download the first two links. Try to install. If you can't, try this:
Go to Control Panel - System Security - Change User Control Settings
Set it to Never Notify. The programs should install now.
One thing to remember is that the AppLocale exe (that runs the application) MUST NOT BE MOVED FROM ITS INSTALLED SPOT. To find the program after successful installation, go to OS - Windows - AppPatch - AppLoc.

4. Next, download 2000RTP from here: http://tkool.jp/rtp/2000rtp.exe
Double click and it will extract the real exe to wherever you want.
Open AppLocale and find the RPG2000RTP.exe that was extracted, and choose 日本語 (japanese). This will install the software needed to run the game.

5. Download the English translation of .flow: http://loda.jp/yume2kki/?id=322 (don't be intimidated by the japanese, just click the download button and you'll be good to go). Extract it wherever you want.
Check the main folder (flow v0.09) for a file called RPG_RT.exe
IF IT ISN'T THERE download the exe here an put it in the folder: http://www.4shared.com/file/_2bnpFMU/RPG_RT.html

6. Save this image: http://uboachan.net/fg/src/1286157334776.png
Rename it as Vehicle
Then move it to the CharSet folder inside the flow v0.09 folder.

7. Finally we can run the game! Open up AppLoc again and run the RPG_RT.exe in the main folder and set the language to 日本語 , and you're set!

Notes:: AppLoc can make a shortcut for you, where you no longer have to manually open AppLoc up to run .flow. Save the shortcut to your desktop, rename it as .flow, and now you can run it just like any other game.
To run the game in windowed mode (windows 7) press FN + F4

  • Yume 2kki is pronounced Yume Nikki, since in japan, 2 is pronounced Ni. Sorry, I'm a grammar nazi.

  • @TheStrongBadMan

    I know that.

I say 2kki so people know what game I'm talking about. It's a matter of efficiency.

  • i try to instal AppLpcale and i get

"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to continue could not be run. Contack your support personnel or package vendor"

  • @Rinnosukelovesmoe

Changing your System Locale to Japanese simply enables your computer to read programs written for Japanese computers. Your clock will stay the same.

For AppLocale, I updated Step 3 in the video details. Follow the instructions and you should get it to work right.

  • @Ritsuioko23 Yume Nisshi

  • Okay so this is the game that Sabitsuki is from. Where is Usotsuki from?

  • flow is the reversed version of wolf.

  • the way you pronounce "Sabitsuki" makes me rage. shit, now whenever I read it I'll hear that in my head, lol.

at first when I only saw the japanese version, I thought her name was Chibitsuki .-. ("sa" and "chi" are quite similar looking)

  • @mentosKS If you google "Madotsuki's Closet" and head to that website it should be there on the LINKS page. That's how I got to play it.

  • @shivers1231 Mind giving a link to that and do you know if it works?

  • Step 6, the image is missing! D:

  • Just thought I'd let you know that the 2000rtp exe link is broken (I'm not sure if it was for anyone else, but it was for me) but if you google 2000rtp.exe then it comes up with a dl first link c:

  • There's now an English .exe of .flow that doesn't require all the RPGMaker rtps.

  • @kojikondo23 Oh. Go down to the world where you find the pipe, then down to the apartments. Go through the elevator to the place with organ music, flashy tiles, rain and stuff. Then go left, and keep going until you find a staircase or something like that. (Havent played in forever, so its a little hard remembering.) This SHOULD take you to the 8-bit world. Pretty sure. :D Then go into the house and get the effect.
