  • @FlavioSousa35 you are indeed correct that dome scenes are missing from this release. However, the Buenos Aires copy is ABSOLUTELY complete. Some scenes were not included ( such as the monk preaching) because they were far beyond restoration.

  • @jessiesherman

I read that the monk was at the beginning of a reel and had been cut off. I also recall reading that the other missing scene (the fight between Joh and Rotwang) was not found. Can you point us to info on the web that says otherwise?

  • did anyone else catch the oscar wilde quote?

  • @SpaceClinicProverbs

    Which one?

  • @SpaceClinicProverbs

Oh, right. The Yoshiwara flier contains quotes from Oscar Wilde:

"He who would conquer his vices must pursue his vices."

    And Omar Khayyam:

"In Paradise there will be virgins. It is said that there is honey there, and wine. Why forbid us wine and women, if woman and wine are in Heaven alone?"

    Here's the German:

"Im Paradiese sollen Houris sein. Man sagt, es gäbe Honig dort und Wein. Warum denn Wein und Weiber uns verbieten, wenn Weib und Wein der Himmellohn allein?"

  • @FlavioSousa35 I know which scenes you are referring to. The monk preaching about Babylon The Great at the cathedral, and the fight between Rotwang and Fredersen. Better give up those hopes. I highly doubt another 'complete' copy will turn up. Let's just all be thankful these scenes exist at all and that we have been blessed to view them, when previous generations have lived and died without ever being able to do so.

  • thanks you and the people of the argentinian museum

  • There are already hundreds of full silent films on YouTube that are still "lost" in the sense that many people have yet to enjoy them. Same at archive dot org. They build the attention and intelligence and sensitivity to all who view them.

  • The recording of the Huppertz score here, and the recording I heard in the local theater, is different from what is on the DVD and Blu-ray. At certain parts in this recording, you can hear pages of sheet music turning and a man coughing in the backround. I actually prefer this live recording over the studio recording that was put on home video. Unfortunately, I can't find this live recording anywhere.

  • greatest classic movie i've ever seen !!

  • It's really a shame that they couldn't use the fight between Frederson and Rotwang... Why couldn't another unimportant scene be damaged instead T_T

  • haha, has anyone else noticed how hilarious the morder version's bust of hel is compared to the real one?

  • HE OPENED THE DOOR, OMG!!!!!!
