Quantum3D showed off their ExpeditionDI tetherless infantry training system at ISDEF 2011 in Tel-aviv.

The guinea pigs are Israeli reserve soldiers hired for the three days of the expo, they had no previous experience with the system. This was taken on the third day and they were completely at ease with it.
The monitor on the right shows the action from the point of view of the soldier on the right/front. (the one with the tether linking him to the display)

During one of their breaks one of them told me there's no way he's going back to playing games with a keyboard and mouse after using this... duh!

The HMD used here isn't the high end type sold to actual clients, it's cheaper Emagin Z800 which is actually available to consumers for 1800 USD and is plug and play, compatible with PC games. It has a resolution of 800x600 and integrated tracking.
