Atulayan island in Bikol Region, derived from the word "Atol" means a snail, looks like a snail from a far distance, a beautiful island, blessed with white sand, captures anyone that sees it, but behind its beauty lies poverty. The sound of the waves that rush to the shore drown the cries of the innocent children. Their cry that only God and people there heard. The light of the moon at night gives light to their dark village. The power of the sun on early morn gives hope to everyone, another day comes awaits the blessing from the sea. They are hungry, but they survive with love and faith to God, caring loving families and friends. The scorching heat of the sand numbs the children's feet. As they run to the shore and chase the waves, and as the tide comes, we look back and their footprints are gone. Thanks to Operation Tsinelas, Thanks God, there is only one footprint will be seen on the sand in the island - a mark of caring.
....We will continue to send what help we can, and return next year. -Delilah
Thank you for this video. This is an eye opening to many. It is a great feeling to share some of our blessings even in a small package. A pair of 'tsinelas' flip flop can put a smile on a child's face, and that's only 40 cents (USA)! If children are our future, we have to take care of them.
