Mocking up the basics of a game in Unity, in front of a live audience. Purpose was to demonstrate Unity's ease of use and speed as a prototyping tool. (as well as a tool that newcomers could use to get into game development)

We're starting a Winnipeg Unity User Group!

Check out http://wuug.ca to sign up for more info.

The 3D models used in this demo are from a collaboration I'm working on with Frederico Machuca. (see more of his work at http://fremachuca.tumblr.com/)

Big thanks to http://KertGartner.com for recording this! :)

  • @jacbros well, start learning them, there's no "born" talent.

  • @jacbros Grow up? BWAH!!! I'm 13 and I make games, I have tutorials on my channel, and don't worry, they are actually good.

  • @UTubeJayDog I doubt he will, he's very busy.

  • Fuck wools stupid phone auto correct I mean u have a lot of skills

  • U r an amazing teacher never give up I've got alot of skills maybe one day we will see the COD XIII(13) with ur name in the credits. Just wondering do u wanna work on a project together

  • i know i wanna make games when i grow up the problem is that i dont have any art skills

  • very nicely done. every time i watch one of your videos i get amped for making a game. Any chance you would be interested in doing a few video's on character creation in blender?

  • @RetroAdvance While I agree with you that we have to deal with sub-par titles on both the AAA and indie scale, having engines like Unity, Torque, and to a lesser extent Ogre, gives those who aren't fantastic engine devs (see: me) a chance to produce some pretty great stuff. It seems that Unity seems to cater mostly to the indie scene, those that aren't poorly done don't seem to come into my radar, so I don't play them much. I think the few gems outweigh the rest of the not so good ones.

  • Thank you so much for spending your time helping others.

  • @Sodabread The point is that you are already playing a crap-ton of poorly programmed stuff, from Oblivion's combat system to Halo 3, you will find poor implementations everywhere. And engines appealing to artists and non-programmers are motivating this trend. I know that's a pity but that is how it is. In unity it is even not practical to roll your own version of the interpolated fixed timestep since you have no access to the game-loop.
