Harper's 'get tough on crime' approach isn't about lowering or preventing crime or making Canda safer, it is about punishment & getting votes, plain & simple. If putting more people in jail reduced crime, the US would be the safest country in the world. These policies don't address the causes of criminal behaviour, they just make people feel better because those 'bad guys' are punished & that equals votes. Preventing crime should be the focus, not punishment.

First of all there's no such thing as a "date rape" drug. Its a "rape" drug. Raping someone is not a date, its a crime. Secondly, hemp prohibition is unique in its ability to create the exact conditions for all sorts of crime to flourish. Prohibitionists are part of organized crime.
