In a medical research paper I recently was reading, an MD felt it necessary to apologize for having accepted for so many years the Western-emposed belief of a binary gender world. Recent medical, psychological research now shows that, for a variety of reasons, gender is quite fluid. It would be comforting to know that all people are accepted.
