On that last step, isn't 1/2 mv^2 a measurement of kinetic energy (which is measured in newtons?). If so, the final equation doesn't make sense since you placed joules (Nm) equal to a measurement of newtons?

@kourosh89 Realistically yes, but we're assuming the plane is infinite, and this is a relatively o.k. assumption to make when dealing with charged plates and small particles such as electrons. As long as the distance away from the plate is much less than the dimensions of the plate we can justify using this assumption that the E field is uniform.



Your videos are a fantastic supplement to lecture notes and the often cumbersome text books. Thanks from an aspiring electrical engineer.
