That was the best northern mob ever to come to The Bridge. 600 to 800 strong, Sloane Sq,up Fulham Rd before the match. The real grief was fighting with the old bill outside before and after in Fulham Rd, King's Rd and later on at Sloane Square.

@Chelsea1ManU0 i was at this game and i remember the crushing disapointment at the realization that we would be going to grimsby a 404 round trip to a wooden ground and not old trafford anfield or highbury,we came so close to winning that game we won 1 0 but lost 2.1. overall and in the last minute the ref put the whisle in his mouth to blow for a pen then changed his mind.but we were promoted champions the next season with a what was then a record 99 points.the shed was closed down a while.

@jimmdo ditto mate, I'm newcastle ex NME, chelsea and boro were both something to look forward to both home and away, we even had it off with boro in london a few times!!!! The 80's and early to mid 90's were class times, that was when it mattered to be honest, its fucked now and has been for a long time, those days are long gone, but theres hundreds of us who can hold our heads up smiling cos at least we had them!!!! Much respect to the real lads who played their part back in the day!!
