Enjoy with caution, since Bungie has already stated that there is no connection (as of yet, might be retconned though - the Marathon universe is very vague). NOTE: PERSONALLY, I THINK THERE IS NO CONNECTION. If you read a couple of the things mentioned, it is all wildly speculative and a lot of wishful thinking. I could probably find parallels between Monkey Island and Marathon if I looked hard enough.

@DrolKeegEht That is true. Wanna know something? If you've played CE: Anniversary, you know how 343 Guilty Spark had the Marathon logo as his "eye"? Guess what wasn't there? ;)

@RazorEXE Yeah, but we're talking about Bungie, who decided "Quick! Before Microsoft buys us, let's make Marathon free! Because that's awesome!"
Somehow I doubt they'd care if these 343 guys decided to pay tribute (that is to say, avoid having to use original thought for doing something "new") to Halo's origin.
