  • Cornbread Red was driving to Johnson City Il when a truck in front of him turned over. Red checked to see if the guy was alright then took his wallet with $300 in it! Now that's a hustler for you! Story confirmed by Don Diephaus Cincinnati fellow hustler in his day!

  • @BigGuz2 (Part 1.) No way. Walter Tevis the author of The Hustler was born in San Francisco in 1928 and moved to Madison County Kentucky at age 11 in 1939. He entered the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY in 1945 where he earned a B.A. and M.A. in English and literature. While in college he worked at a pool hall.
