a shite piece of advice but I find keepping my thumb at the back of he neck increases your stretch distance and the amount of pressure you can put on the strings to fret them properly

Don't use a pick, you played fine. Tabs are a little off though. I wouldn't slide if I were you.
Do pull those strings harder though. And yeah, Sid sucks.

Ps: I don't actually use tabs; I play what I think sounds good. Picking out individual notes is way too long a process for me, so I just listen to the song once or twice, and then play it.
I also add a bit of personal flare sometimes (John Entwistle triplets and pentatonic flares and shit like that) but I'll agree to cut down on the slides; they do kind suck.
