What if the movie star wars was written by environmentalists?
http://endciv.com

The film makers says-
Derrick Jensen speaks, and my world view has never been the same since. Unlike the other speakers, Derrick did not talk about about solar panels or wind turbines. He spoke of our cultures systematic destruction of the planet and of the failure of the environmental movement. After hearing his talk, I immediately sought out his books and the first seeds of END:CIV were planted. The Star Wars piece is one of Derricks best analogies, one that delivers a precise critique of mainstream environmental groups.

Directed by Franklin López, Motion Graphic support by pussykrew . Production assistance by Paul Clarke, Annette Fick, Rosalee Yagihara and Chris Bevacqua http://endciv.com

Pacifism is just another form of control. The cops fuck you up the ass and you give them flowers. Ya that's smart. Peace is an end not a mean.

To be more consistent with the time era STAR WARS was released in it would have made more sense if the rebels sent out Betamax video cassettes of themselves singing "Give Peace a Chance".

And remember kids, Star Wars is Conservative. The Rebel Alliance was basically the Tea Party. Think about it. Jedi-Bible preachers/Catholic priests. Farm boys from Iowa/Kansas/Tatooine. And even Capitalist businessmen Like Han Solo and Lando Calrissian. I mean, Lando ran a mining operation and was shut down by the Socialist Empire! SO this Jensen would be cheering on Darth Vader as he hunted down the Conservative Capitalist Rebels!

The ironic thing is that Star Wars is Conservative and the Rebels are rebelling against the Socialist totalitarian Empire.

I'm all for environmental sustainability and stopping those who really don't care about damaging the environment. But 'endciv'? WTF? Just go back to smoking weed and watching Star Wars FFS!

Just be careful that in your quest to get serious you don't become just as evil as what you are fighting against. That is another lesson from star wars.

The logical conclusion would then become this: Are you willing to commit evil and become evil to stop evil?

I believe this is a false-choice fallacy. There are ways to compromise and innovate that can satisfy both sides. For example, if you harvest the methane from cow manure for power on cow farms, you no longer create greenhouse gases.

The underlying message here is that letter writing, educational campaigns, civil disobedience, legal action is ineffective. The only thing that was effective was violent destruction. That is his point, no matter how he humourously he dances around it.
