@JCLeSinge When you mean loyalists do you mean nationalists. they were the ones for home rule, not loyalists... And spain was neutral during the War, get your facts right man

In my opinion I believe these protests which helped defeat home rule in Ireland is the point the Union began destabilize, If Home Rule in Ireland was granted Ireland would still probably be in the union and Scotland and Wales would not be seeking to leave. The "Success" of Irish nationhood would not be a symbol to look to. I cannot see a UK in future, it is a shame in a way, The United Kingdoms is a good idea if all nations are equal within. I believe the English long since poisoned that chance

A very interesting video, I have never seen this footage of the Unionist oposition to the Home Rule Bill before.
It's true that Irish Loyalists fought for Germany, but they weren't Nazis. The call for Irish independance might have been heeded if they'd sided with the Allies, but there was no guarantee of that. They essentially thought "The enemy of my enemy is my friend," and so were blinded to the fact that their new "friend" was a hellish monster. The Loyalists were unique among Gemrany's allies in that they weren't Fascists, unlike (for example) Italy and Spain.

Thanks for the comment, but I think the loyalists in this case were the unionists in Ulster who were campaigning against Home Rule for Ireland.
