1% of the worlds water supply is fresh water. 20% of that fresh water resides right here in Michigan. Fortunately, I love fresh water fishing. The opportunities are endless. Michigan suits me like a glove (or a mitten if you will.)

As you can see, the fishing has been quite good for me this summer. I have been having a blast with friends and family all summer long. Hopefully, the fun and adventure continue.

Fly Fishing For Bluegills:

Yes indeed!!! A great little fish for light tackle. More importantly, this fish always provides good action and a delicious meal.

We have been hiking into uncharted ponds and lakes on state land with our kayaks. Our longest haul to date is a 2 mile round trip carrying kayaks. We were beat, but the work paid dividends since we limited out with 50 fish in just 3 hours (this is post spawn mind you.) These were not exceptionally large bluegills, but they were good-sized keepers to say the least.

Take some Drakes or McCormicks Creole Seasoning, apply a nice application to the fillet on one side. Then, just fry in one centimeter of peanut or canola oil in frying pan!!! POOF!!! You are done. Serve on some freshly made steamed white rice with fruit of choice as a side (mango, cherries, watermelon.) GREAT SUMMER DINING!!!

Float Trips:

Finally, I was able to take out my two little baby brothers, Dice and Sully. It was good to see Kimbo come as well. She is a trooper. Just a little clarification about Dice and Sully. These two individuals have turned out to be my baby brothers that I always wanted. Hopefully, I am that big brother they always needed.

Needless to say, we hit a local river. In the dead of summer, fishing is always good on these small rivers. For whatever reason, when the pike and bass are not hitting in the local lakes, go to a river with good cover, cool temperatures, and then you will see the difference. The fish in these rivers hit all day long (right smack middle in the hottest part of the day!!!)

All we used was our kayaks, a little navigation skill/coordination, and some jigs/spinners. BAM!!! IT WAS ON!!! We caught rockbass, smallmouth bass, and pike, all day long!!! We did some swimming too!!!

Other Adventures:

As advertised, you see other outdoor fun posted in this video. Some of it is not to be explained. It is more for family and friends who already know the deal.

BAP:

I will just make videos when I see fit. It is just easier that way.

  • WOO! Just went up to the Lake for a week. The Mini X was flawless! In total, on the trip, I caught over 100 bluegill with a friend out of it. Man. This thing is amazing. Thanks for turning me to these things, man.

  • Mini x arrived today. Stone white. Fish and dive. Picked up an Apex 2 seat from Cabelas. Bought a scotty-gimbal rod converter. (For the fly rod.) Put a couple of scupper plugs in the bottom. Needless to say, looks like a good boat. Can't wait to get out on the lake and take it for a spin.

  • even though the kayak is pricey, you will love its stability (compared to other yaks.) you will have a great time, and if you are anything like me, it will become your favorite boat.
