@tremlk I think the word faggot can be compared to the N-word. Up until the early 70's gays and crossdressers were routinely arrested at gay bars and raped, beaten, occasionally killed by police. Gay teenagers are still being thrown out on the streets by their parents and forced to become prostitutes. I've never met a gay person who HASN'T gotten assaulted at least once and called slurs numerous times.
It's not about trying to compare total suffering over hundreds of years. It's hate speech!

@molecularist That's exactly what the NAACP Image Awards is about. Kids must be taught to be prejudiced, and the media and movies are a big part of that.
One day people might not even think about if they're writing a "black" or "white" part or casting a black or white (or Asian, hispanic, etc) person in a tv show, and it will have a lot to do with advocacy and activism.

not when many will call one man an "actor" and another a "black actor." Both should be called actors (or anything). Black, Latin, Country, etc. award shows give recognition for outstanding work by individuals/groups who would normally not be given recognition. They are not meant to be prejudicial.
