Here is my brother-in-law John Koontz preparing crab cakes using a traditional Maryland recipe. I've tried crabcakes from many places, including well-known restaurants, but haven't found any that are as satisfying to eat.

This was taken in the Koontz kitchen on the South River near Annapolis Maryland on a winter Saturday as the family gathered.

  • Damn thats some loud whisking. I'm from MD (Silver Spring, Frederick). These are authentic MD Crabcakes brother.

Skip the cocktali sauce and make a remolade with mayo/mustard/lemon juice and Old bay

  • Looks great. I can't wait to try it. I like my crab cakes with mustard or either tartar sauce. I'm going to make my tartar sauce from scratch. Things made from scratch always taste a litter fresher and a little better because it's made on the spot with pride! Thanks!

  • Yummy! I'm going to try this recipe out!
