From the drum roll at the beginning, this is one of my most favorites from the 1990's. Brings back so many good memories after my divorce, dancing at Fool's Gold!!!!

@justinlwerner MCC is a GREAT songwriter but you do know this was written by Lucinda Williams right?
-
@BigMoe96 that smile is to die for .so glad you mentioned.

What a great song. She's a really underrated songwriter and we all need to hear more from her.

one of my Faves!!

@kerik667 Try this link to clarify that Lucinda Williams wrote this song and recorded it in 1988. MCC toured with Williams in the early 90's and decided to record it to, lucky for all of us.

Scuse me folks - But Mary Chapin Carpenter wrote this song for Lucinda. I love Lucinda, but give Mary her proper songwriting credit here.

"Do I want too much, am I going overboard to want that touch?" MCC knows how to sing another's song and arrange the sounds unforgettably. Her performance style, producers, and arrangers got it right for this recording.

Chapin's voice and smile are adorable, almost angelic. Jennings guitar also sounds McGuinn/Byrds-esque which makes this song sound special too.
o, yes ... Lucinda is one of the greats, but this is one of the great covers
