  • Think I recognised Alan Ladd, James Garner (Maverick), Jock O'Mahoney and (possibly) Tom Mix ...

  • you missed John Wayne...

  • Apparently though, Wyatt Earp did not. Earp retired from his lawman days to Hollywood where he hobnobbed with the film stars including ... a young John Wayne. When Wyatt Earp died, Tom Mix was a pall-bearer.

  • So was Wyatt's real name Kevin Costner or Kurt Russell?

  • When Hugh O'Brien was asked to take the leading role in the 1950s TV series The Legend of Wyatt Earp, he went to see the Duke to get some first-hand info on the character.

  • Well I never knew that.

You are right about Tom Mix. Not too sure if the John Wayne story is true, though. Wayne didn't really start hanging out in Hollywood with any regularity until about 1930. I will have to ask Hugh about that Wayne story...he has never told me that one!

  • and Monty Cliff and Tab Hunter...sort of a "Brokeback Cha Cha Cha," number!!!

    ;)
