    they were not supporting him; the English call that "jeering." We cheer when we think you are making a fool of yourself. eg at work or in school, if someone falls over with their plate of food, everyone cheers and claps. The cheer at the point deduction is a real cheer and not a jeer. I know its difficult to tell them apart, but I can and i think most British people can.
