1950 RCA TV MODEL 6T76 CHASSIS REPAIRS

Repairs on a 1950 RCA model 6T76 tv chassis. Highlights capacitor replacement and history of the tv. This tv was modified in unfortunate ways, probably to extend the life on a degraded crt. The fuses on the ac power and hv damper tube were removed and cross circuited with wire. The HV rectifier in the HV cage was replaced with a higher power 6AX4. A crt brightener was installed. The extra load eventually shorted the primary of the power transformer and blew open the AC power switch.

Possibly could have cleaned the chassis with carburetor cleaner? Just a thought. Thanks for the video!

@SaraWinterweb Good suggestion, Sarah. I actually used it on another old tv chassis, and it works well. However, exposure to all those toxic solvents in carb cleaner probably isn't good.

@chrisw71 Agreed, for the person and possibly for some of the electrical and tubes...I may stick to Iso Alchohol to clean the KCS83 chassis of my 21ZP4B RCA. I'm a noob to TV electronics and repair, but I'm learning fast.

Looks good...there sure are a lot of caps in there! Look forward to seeing it working again.
