  • I had been searching for this scene in youtube for several years, and just recently many people have uploaded it in different languages. This scene represents my view of the world and I feel very much like detective William Somerset does in it: isolated from the rest because of his decision to pursue knowledge (never so pleased with himself but never so alone). I will never understand why most of society turns its back on knowledge.

  • @yosoyleonislas Because knowledge enlightens you, but the truth requires action. In america we ALL know that government is broken, that we fight wars of aggression, that the system is rigged but we do nothing because that would require us to do something about it,and will cost us time and money to fix so we choose a willfull ignorance.

  • @yosoyleonislas While, yes, the pursuit of knowledge is a noble one, it also serves to restrain us by relying on classical knowledge. It is part of the human spirit to "press on" and not look back because without such a mindset our intellectual feet would never have left the ground.

  • The thing that bothers me about the otherwise amazing movie Seven, is the fact that Morgan Freeman uses every possible opportunity to talk about the fact that he reads books.

  • @yosoyleonislas I really appreciated your comment. Well said. I was moved by it as I often feel the same way.

  • Ironically, in this tongue-in-cheek generation, the song playing is Bach's "Air on the G-String". Let the jokes start NOW!

  • @yosoyleonislas You have a interesting view on the world. Congrtrats!

  • @gmsesq Have you read the divine comedy? I imagine not… your perspective would change… it is worse than the picture. The church rather liked it I hear… I wonder why...

  • anybody know the particular book of dante's inferno he is researching in this scene? I happen to appreciate the very graphic illustrations of the circles of hell.

  • Those pictures are very disturbing

  • @ChelseaWon3nil oops...Mills is the young man,Somerset is the old one...Seven is a very worthy philosophical reflection as well as a Great commercial movie...

  • Thank you Back and thank you Freedman for this scene.
