EC is catching on over here, as well. While some think it's strange, I think it's a great idea. It saves money, helps the environment, and helps develop healthy communication with the baby early on.

My mom, who is Filipina, used diapers but she also used the "cue" with us to get us to go. I'm 26 now, and when I know I need to use the bathroom but don't feel the urge, the cue still works like a charm. True fact! ;)
