amtrak #5/13th involved in accident has backwards consist: car train and signal equipment involved. damaged lead unit, crewcar was torn open on roof along with windows busted out. 531 car had huge dent in roof, diner had gaping hole torn in equipment locker area. see amtrak 5/13th part 2,3and 4. rail and signals damaged. They switched out crew car for different one and placed bag car and crew car on rear of train. they set out lead unit and had freight loco till denver. got rid of freight engine there and placed amt 197 loco on. (repaired 197 loco that burnt down @ upsal nevada attempting to move grandluxe equipment).

Authorities say five people were in the vehicle hit by the California-bound train shortly after 3 p.m. Monday near Ottawa, about 80 miles southwest of Chicago. There were no injuries aboard the train.

LaSalle County Sheriff Tom Templeton says is appears the vehicle didn't stop before crossing the tracks.

Two of those killed were 82, 81years old, both of Leland. The third victim wasn't immediately identified. Two others in the vehicle were injured. One was treated and released from a hospital; the condition of the other wasn't available.

    Correct. They do NOT depart early.  Not allowed.

  • @robertgift they hit something and sleepers coaches forward (before they changed consist 2 coaches forward) and had the bag car on the end, should have been next 2 locomotives.

  • @resonomics lol, my bad. the way they used 2 arrange the cars, or the consist was locomotive, locomotive, bagcar, crewcar, 32 sleeper, 31 sleeper, diner, lounge car, 10 coach, 11 coach, 12 coach. This train hit a SIGNAL MAST back in omaha or somewhere and for some reason they turned whole train backwards and connected the coaches 2 locos. so it was a backwards consist. loco, loco, 3 coaches, lounge, diner, 2 sleepers, crew car bag car. ya feel me now?

    They hit something while sleeper coaches were just behind the locomotives (before they changed the order to engines, bagage car, coaches, then sleeping cars) ?

  • No passenger train runs "early," ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever. If you THINK the train left early, then you need to buy a new watch, 'cause yours is broken.  Been that way for over 100 years. So, stop with the made-up shit. It really annoys people who DO know what they're talking about. They can ARRIVE early, but the NEVER LEAVE early. Got that? Good.

I'm not sayin i do, but i am sayin u sure don't. and young man, I've ran locomotives for hundreds of miles sunny boy. and guess what, when i highball trains, we don't leave early. ur watch is slow. so who has no life? i do this 4 a pay check. u video tape trains for fun.
