    Both versions are so different.

    Original by the National: organic, more upbeat and really, really sexy.

    Cover by Silver Swans: synthetic, sublime, extremely beautiful.

    There's no "better version", just the "more appropriate" to your current mood.

    I'm not digging the super bass boost in the mix, but I guess that's what people like: loud highs, loud lows, and nothing in the middle. Personally I like as close you can get to flat. The vocals are almost entirely overpowered by the "instruments."
