Filmed this little guy at Alsea Falls...Water Ouzels (Cinclus mexicanus ), or American Dippers as they're more commonly known, are one of my favorite riparian birds. If you're lucky, you can occasionally catch a glimpse of them walking under water...very surreal =~} Apparently, the Water Ouzel was John Muir's favorite bird as well...

According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology:

"the American Dipper is North America's only truly aquatic songbird. It catches all of its food underwater in swiftly flowing streams by swimming and walking on the stream bottom."

"American Dipper habitat: Fast-moving, clear, unpolluted streams with cascades, riffles, and waterfalls."
