Ok I have a question. I got the same microphone and the mxl mic mate, plus a Male to female xlr cable, but there's no plug on any of these for a USB port? did I do something wrong or is there one more thing I have to buy?

Should compress/limit pre computer at least enough to prevent clipping just so you don't ruin a performance. It really cuts down on time wasting mess ups. To be clear a hardware unit before your interface is a must.

@shontajabrown yes u need a XLR other wise you will not record. you will need a pre amp and interface

mxl 3000 is much more worth the investment, get a m box degi design and record with pro tools..you will deliver a nice warm professional recording. and have much more control over your vocals

Wow. There are a lot of babies to audio recording equipment. Learn about audio recording before you start actually recording,then you won't have to come to a place like youtube to ask dumb questions

How did you get an XLR type of the MXL 990 because I got the USB on the MXL 990....

Do u really need the xlr cable to work the mic mate,can you just plug the mic mate in and start recording.if you can does it make the mic sound different

@IamLegendNC the mic outputs with xlr. what im using is the mxl mic mate, it is just a simple xlr to usb converter.

@TheJosephNoah Any Male to female xlr cable will do. I am using a cheap 3ft xlr.
