Bobby Roth explains how is Transcendental Meditation different from other meditation techniques?
Bobby Roth: The key word in understanding how Transcendental Meditation is different from other meditation techniques is the word effortless. When we think of meditation we think of something that involves control of the mind or concentration, some manipulation or something like that. You follow your breathing you focus on a thought or an idea. Transcendental Meditation no concentration, no effort and that's important. The reason for this is that the natural tendency of the human mind is to be drawn to be something more satisfying.
You're sitting in a room and you're listening to some music and it's not very good music and in the other room some really good music comes on, something you love. What happens? The attention shifts, effortlessly drawn to something more satisfying. The source of thought, this inner reservoir of creativity, energy and intelligence which lies within each of us is a very satisfying field. Through Transcendental Meditation we learn how to give the mind an inward direction and effortlessly it's drawn within.
I have been practising the Transcendental Meditation-technique since I was 13 and in all these 35 years I never missed a meditation - that tells the whole story: if a young kid could like to practice a meditation technique regularly it shows, that the technique works: it makes Your mind clear, creative and enjoyable, keeps Your body health and effective, and even reflects on Your social network... . TM simply is wonderful because its so easy and at the same time so practical :-)
