Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on How to Tackle Climate Change: "We Must Go From Capitalism to Socialism"

We speak with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez about climate change, the Copenhagen summit and President Obama. Chavez accuses calls the COP15 summit undemocratic and accuses world leaders of only seeking a face-saving agreement. We must reduce all the emissions that are destroying the planet, Chavez says. That requires a change in the economic model: we must go from capitalism to socialism.

  • @andres3313919 Someone has made you believe that Colombian's problems are not so big compared to the way people suffer in other countries, right? That's a trick. I'm from the US and here a lot of people suffer, but they make us think our problems are not big by showing poverty in other countries like Colombia. The US destroyed the Colombian economy and steels your resources. Hugo Chavez is not only fighting the US but also the people against him in his own country, who are rich and like the US.

  • If Chavez thinks that USA should reduce CO2 emissions by 100%, he must stop selling oil to USA immediately! As long as he gives them oil (and very cheap!), they continue to squander it.

And socialism has been very harmful to the environment. Ask Russians and Eastern Europeans. Third world countries like Cuba don't have big industry anyway.

  • i don`t understand how chavez speaks about democracy, when all people that goes against him goes to jail, i live in colombia and i can tell how venezolanos suffer because of him.

  • @PrimeroSocialismo Ok I've checked. Within 10 years, Chavez has succeeded in making Caracas the #1 murder capital of the world. Venezuela is now #2 in the world for inflation. The country doesn't have enough electricity or water for its people, even though they have one of the world's largest reserves of oil. Freedom of speech is gone as Chavez shuts down any media outlet that criticizes his policy. Thats a great example Chavez has given?

  • I agree with Rusty. Hugo mentions taking power from the wealthy and giving it to the people. What does that mean? What he's succeeded in doing is taking power from the wealthy and giving it to the government. Given these two choices, I'd rather the wealthy have power by choice than a government have power by law. At least that way I have a chance of becoming wealthy.

  • USA are shit!!! of america..

  • FACTS: The US has used torture.

Obama goes to China to tell their leaders to improve their human rights policies.
