This is a short tour of Pitcher Oklahoma.
"Once the mining companies pulled out, the acid water just completely flooded the mines. Eventually the acid water sprung from the ground and flowed into the creek, staining it burnt red."

  • I heard lots of insects, but I saw no animals. There were no birds, no squirrels, no nothing. Did you see animals when you were there or is it just devoid of animal life?

  • @1anthonybrowning There are other animals around. Only most of them are nocturnal & hide during the heat of the day.

  • Hey Jeff I really like these Picher vids. I live in Sapulpa just outside of Tulsa. I go to Branson alot and when I drive down the highway and see the chatpiles it always reminds me of the tornado in Picher. Since this video was taken, how much of the town is Still standing? I heard that they've town alot down. Are alot of the houses (minus tornado homes) still standing? I would love to go by and take pictures sometime. Again thanks for the video! -Scott

  • @darthvaydr Scott, at this point I would say 75% if not higher have been cleared out. Just after this was shot there was a wildfire that made it's way into part of Pitcher. Then a few days after the fire they got hot n heavy on moving some of the homes worth saving & tore down much of what was left. There are a few places still standing. But nothing like whats seen in this video. I may go there today & make an update video. Thank you for watching & your comment. Jeff

  • This reminds me of a massive subdivision in my area at the top of a mountain. It was going to be some kind of multi million dollar development but when the economy started going bad the developers went bankrupt. There aren't any houses but it's weird to go through and see roads and utilites laid out, ready for houses to be built.

  • I'd keep an eye on that area for land development. The greatest rule of real estate is buy low and sell high. One thing the bankers learned back in the cowboy days if you can't buy the land then scare them off of it.

  • Centralia, PA is like this. Coal mine fire ran them out of town. Fucking spooky as hell.

  • the world is reading more and more like a science fiction movie it could scare me if I let but we should take it seriously of course the animals don't scare me as I am Canadian most of our towns are ghost towns while being inhabbited! none the less I wouldn't want to be an American at this point...wow sad!

  • this look like my country

  • that would be great for paintball

  • you're a person, and you're here
