Bush did a lot more than F-up. He sold us all out. All of us. America is being manipulated by People outside the country, has been. minimum wage, de-segregation, getting rid of child labor, education, progressive taxation, workers rights, etc. all came from popular and workers struggles; these are not things that come from within the liberal social management system, and obama is no exception. popular struggle is the only way to seek better conditions, not by relying on self-interested rubbish.

seeing obama as the culmination of the civil rights movement is a little misleading; in a more substantial way it can be seen as the death of the civil rights movement. the movement is now overwhelmed by official policy, instead of demanding better conditions like mlk, the movement stagnates, leaving the conditions of those suffering up to the usual suspects: sell-out politicians and capital owners, who care about nothing but their own self interest
