What everybody is calling a "scream" is a thing called Head Voice. Upper register Head voice is alot easier to execute than a standard scream. Which is why she always seems so un-phased by those notes. AND Real screams hurt and they can damage your chords. Clearly shes not hurting. Chaka's head voice is just ALOT louder and clearer than the "normal" singer, which sets her apart from most. ALSO, She is nearly pitch perfect. Which makes her "wail" sound damn near perfect most times.

@ederrick987.. But Chaka Khan isn't about smoothness, she about raw wailing. She is a great singer because she has a style of singing that is orginal. LOL. You really think someone is going to tell her how to sing..have you really listened to her catalog. LOL.
