SPECIAL REQUEST:
"Wish You Were Here" written by Harold Rome for the 1952 musical of the same name was a popular hit single on the RCA Victor label for Eddie Fisher with Hugo Winterhalter and his Orchestra in 1952. It was included in the 1957 RCA Victor album, Thinking of You. This was posted at the request of my subscriber, Kievest.

  • If you have "No Other One" by Eddie Fisher, I would sure like to see it on youtube.

    Thanks.

  • @85028bc Sorry, but I don't have it.

  • Thanks for being a darling, John, and

posting my beloved Eddie!!! His voice

had a lovely timbre and unmistakable

sound that set him apart from other

singers of his time. Wonderful interpre-

tation, as usual. Thank you for your

    kindness.

  • You're very welcome, Candace.

  • Quite a coincidence, I was a jr. in college in 1952, and Eddie was one of our most listened to. Myself, I wish those days were here. Thanks for all the great posts, sj.

  • Although I was a young child at that time I remember well all the great music, including this one. I'm glad that you are enjoying my posts.

  • I played this record over and over.I was a young teen in love with the voice the the great Eddie Fisher! The best voice ever. And the best orchestra! Sure wish there was music like this now.Our youth is missing out!!!!

  • The powerful bolero arrangement by Hugo Winterhalter of this gorgeous song drives the rhythm deep into my being, and this great, legendary voice builds on this power, creating a truly majestic work of art, with notes of shimmering gold. Absolutely astounding, inspiring, and forever engraved in my memory.

  • This is a great song and a big hit for Eddie. In his night club act he would sing it in a medley of his hits. He could still hit the high notes of this song. I last saw him in performance in 1995 and his voice was strong and powerful, despite his age. I miss him and I will always treasure the times I saw him perform in person. He was such a great talent and a nice person.

  • i rember you eddie what diction

  • nice song///great voice

  • Heard this first on Peggy Lee's version on Latin ala Lee but her arrangment literally comes directly from this one. Can't blame her, its a solid one.

  • Eddie Fischer has such a beautiful voice! This is my favorite song!!!

  • Yvette, I saw your picture on the legacy page for Eddie Fisher. I saw Eddie in person many times. Maybe we were even at the same shows. He was the best. I met him many times and he was a very nice person.
