Using a Logitech ClickSmart 510 and motion (motion detection software)+ffmpeg(video editing software). Motion detects movement and record more than 25 images per seccond (actually, it takes +25 pics per seccond). When I get home I run a little script I made using ffmpeg to convert those images into a video ;) See the seconds and you'll see that sometimes there are a few seconds lost as there was no movement ;)

  • the problem with lightnings is that is so fast you might miss the lights. The best idea is to use a camera (either digital or analog) and use a long shutter (like 30 sec.) and wait for luck to come ;)

I had a problem with ffmpeg which didn't allowed me to convert directly to video, that's why I used my script.

  • actually motion can automatically use ffmpeg to encode videos without the need to run any script. I actually just made a video with the same software, it's actually pretty fun.

Next I'm going to try to use motion to take pictures of lightning, if my webcam can handle it.
