Well, so is The Reverend Manning. Far be it from me to dog on Diamanda... She is an aquired taste. (tastes like spoilt chicken...)

I hate to say it, but I like the Reverend Manning better than I like Diamanda Galas....

it was d. galas brother who suffered and died a nasty painful aids death. that's who see sings about on some songs,as well as friends- and yes i have aids for 22 years now, after being told i would die in less than 18 months, but ALL MY FRIENDS ARE DEAD,life so much harder with out the support.

She has AIDS too? I thought her brother was the one with AIDS who later died. I think a person's "star" quality (presence) and appearance plays a large role in this. On an album like Vena Cava...Would a person who is truly mentally ill or knowing they're gonna die generate a cult following, like Diamanda? Probably not. I look at it like an actor playing the role of a doctor. Do you REALLY know what it feels like?

Have to say ... i don't care for alot of her musical art ... astetically / to MY musical ear ... BUt I love her covers of ..( gloomy sunday / my life is empty ) and to me ... saint of the pit album is gold .
