In London in 1966 at the Marquee Club David Bowie did a Sunday afternoon show, The Bowie Showboat, from April 10th to June 12th. At the second Bowie Showboat concert he met his soon to be manager, Ken Pitt. This recording is almost 45 years old so forgive the period live sound quality but enjoy a young entertainer. There is an audio break in the middle but stick with it!

  • I thought I'd pretty much heard everything Bowie but this is NEW to me

  • @zenobowie There will be a few who get it...not many...never are. Each generation will produce a few true artists and a lot of crap. It has probably been that way since the beginning of time. In the meantime just fly your flag and hopefully someone will be turned-on to the good stuff.

  • 1:34 What the Heck?

  • @steviea427 you're right and I am pleased when the later DB fan is also interested in the man, music his musical preferences and who have influenced him than just the name and image !!Through DB I got to know other great musicians like Brian Emo ,Robert Fripp,or Trent Rezor of NIN even Tricky or Placebo (DB is a big fan of Tricky) But on Facebook there are not many they prefer the easy stuff, that is what I don't understand,Good music takes longer to get used to The Fragile or Outside

  • He wrote some bloody rubbish in his early years, like this. Bowie we know didn't really get going till "The Man Who Sold The World" in 1971.

Incidentally, the catchpharse back then was "Over the wall we go, all coppers are bastards!", lyrics changed for possible radio play

  • @zenobowie I understand. No artist can control how he is viewed by fans. Artists do what they do and then it is out of their hands. You have something special in regards to Bowie and should treasure it like a secret. At least some of the new fans will get into Bowie enough to learn all about him. That is the way it goes.

  • If you listen to Kate Bush's There Goes A Tenner, you can hear the direct influence.

  • m a fan since the man who sold the world the first alb I bought in 71.In the 70s, most fans loved alternative music , The general public thought he was weird and couldn't place him His commercial but as a musician less interesting years, the 80s, madehim more acceptable Facebook I have never met so many mainstream music loving DB fans Everything with the name DB is suddenly something amazing DB was influenced and assisted by musicians not many DB fans want to know, rather hypocritical !
