Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda appointed as the National Security Advisor, bids farewell to the Navy.
A special Guard of Honour was accorded to Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda. It was organised at the Naval Headquarters. He handed over the Office to the New Commander Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe according to Naval traditions. Many senior naval officers were present.

The 16th Commander of the Navy also assumed duties. Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe assumed duties at the Naval Headquarters this morning. He was accorded a Guard of Honour. National Defence Advisor Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda was present on the occasion. After taking over duties from the Former Naval Commander in accordance with military traditions, Thisara Samarasinghe pledged to work with maximum strength to uplift the Navy. Many senior Naval Officers graced the occasion.
