I got the Gripper 3025 from film tools in Burbank, CA and took it for a test drive. Its a giant suction cup (vacuum cup) that holds up to 70 lbs. I only used a small samsung camcorder for the test of course.

I used 5 mount locations:

1: Rear Trunk Lid (Vertical)
2: Rear Left Passenger Door
3: Front Right Bumper
4: Front Hood (Top)
5: Rear Trunk Lid (Top)

Notes:

I got some decent footage. Just need to think about:

-what direction the light is coming from.
-locations with less vibrations
-the vibrations tend to give you a blurry image
-lines on the road make more dynamic/interesting shots for CUs

Overall great mount, and REALLY REALLY FUN!!!

  • can you trust it going 100miles or more?

  • I did put my Canon XH-A1 on it...but I put it on through the sun roof so that i could grab it if need be. I would just strap it down too if possible.

The problem with putting the big camera on it was that because it was longer it would wobble more from the air flow. So your shots don't look as smooth.

    Hope that helps.

  • would u trust it with a more expensive camera

  • cost?
