Part 1: Xotic Bass BB Preamp Demo

Part 1 of my demo of the Xotic Bass BB Preamp overdrive effect pedal. The bass used for the demo is an active Elrick six-string singlecut bass.

Are you using the X Blender in conjunction during this demo or straight through the Bass BB Preamp? I'm after a new Overdrive and its between this and the Aguilar Agro , still undecided as they're both very nice sounding yet sound so different from each other!

@smittileo Straight into the BB, no X-blender. Haven't tried the Agro, but it sounds nice.

best demo I've ever seen, ..and i've seen thousands, u actually can see this thing does mild OD,every vid has the gain turned way up. good job, i may buy it now. to me,a 2 band EQ is a must on bass OD's

Gets pretty interesting with the gain past 11 o'clock... but when you de-activated the pedal you should have played a riff or something as a refference to what the clean signal was... just an opinion

0:54-1:14 is a sample of the clean signal :D

I suggest you try the sansamp GT2. It's a guitar pedal, but works great for bass also. I think the bass player of TOOL uses it

Hey Ian, Yeah, I definitely dig it. I couldn't get the Tech 21 VT Bass to work for me in a way I wanted- the BB definitely works for me though. I still have to get back to you on your last PM! :D

Very nice review Bryan! I picked mine up after a *hearty* recommendation from Bryan Beller, who got *his* from a recommendation from Justin Mendel-Johnson, who referred to it as "an SVT in a (small) pedal". It's since become my main low-to-mid gain "overdrive" pedal, and I've also picked up the Bass RC Booster, which is a great for needing to boost passive basses in signal chain as well as a volume boost.
