Someone has told me that my particular example (in video) was built in Spain to meet high UK demand at the time ...

Apparently they were using better steel over there. I've been enjoying the car for 2 and a half years now (at the time of this comment) and no rust has appeared :-)

I've just turned 17 and got a mk4 escort 1.4 as a first car and mine is pretty much the same condition as yours, never been out of a garage, elderly owner and basically mine is completely brand new. These are great cars and yours looks stuning!!

@CHRISYBEANS Nice ! I got mine when I was 18.....I think these are great as a first car (good to gain experience in something with semi old attributes)

Still a bit of a novelty to have my first car, not sure if I'll sell it any time soon as its been 100% reliable and fun at the same time.

@CHRISYBEANS I want on of these when I'm older too. It may look a little frumpy but it's a piece of 80s stuff...priceless. shame about the rusting problems, my uncle had a 1993 escort 1.3lx and it rusted all around the wheel arches.

i have a 3dr 1.3 popular as a daily runabout in the same red, its a nice little car and stands out from all the modern crap on the roads, these lower spec cars are rare nowadays not like the common as muck rs turbos.
