Obama picked this dog for a reason. His youngest daughter is allergic to dogs but this dog is called hypo-allergenic because it doesn't shed at all, it just needs grooming.These PWD'S are highly intelligent and can process complex word commands if trained, These dogs will warn their master when someone is coming and the dogs want to be by the masters side at all times.They can be trained to send commands to people by barking a certain way they are highly intelligent WIKI them up very interesting

I'm so happy the Obamas went with an uncommon breed. The Portuguese water dog is better known now thanks to them and hopefully the breed's following of loyal fanciers will grow.
